Common Side Effects
GI effects (flatulence, diarrhea, abdominal pain and bloating) — nearly universal especially initially, dose-dependent, often improve over time.
Safety Warnings
⚠️ GI inflammation or intestinal obstruction contraindicated. Hypoglycemia only when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas — treat with glucose (NOT sucrose/table sugar — won’t absorb). Monitor liver enzymes.
