What is Tenof Em (TENOFOVIR / EMTRICITABINE)?
HIV treatment (as part of a regimen) and HIV PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) in HIV-negative high-risk individuals — up to 99% effective when taken consistently.
How it Works

Common Side Effects
Generally well tolerated. Nausea, headache, diarrhea (mainly early). TDF formulation: renal toxicity and bone density loss. TAF has better renal/bone safety.
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Renal function monitoring (eGFR, phosphate) required. Hepatitis B flare on discontinuation — test for HBV before starting. HIV resistance testing before use in treatment settings.
