How it Works
Selective 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist causing cranial vasoconstriction and inhibiting trigeminal nerve nociceptive transmission and CGRP release.

Common Side Effects
Chest tightness (triptan sensation), dizziness, nausea, paresthesia, flushing, somnolence. Injection site reactions with SC formulation.
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Contraindicated in ischemic heart disease, uncontrolled hypertension, stroke/TIA history, hemiplegic/basilar migraine. MAOIs contraindicated. Serotonin syndrome risk. Medication overuse headache if used more than 10 days per month.
