Corticosteroid for inflammatory and autoimmune conditions — asthma, COPD, IBD, rheumatoid arthritis, SLE, allergic reactions, organ transplant rejection, adrenal insufficiency, and many other conditions.
How it Works
Binds glucocorticoid receptors reducing transcription of inflammatory genes (IL-1, IL-6, TNF-alpha) and inducing anti-inflammatory proteins. Suppresses both innate and adaptive immunity.

Common Side Effects
Short-term: hyperglycemia, insomnia, mood changes, fluid retention. Long-term: osteoporosis, Cushing’s syndrome, cataracts, glaucoma, adrenal suppression, weight gain, infections.
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Never stop abruptly after prolonged use — adrenal crisis risk (always taper). Calcium and vitamin D for bone protection. PPI for GI protection. Monitor blood glucose. Avoid live vaccines.
