What is Jardiance 25mg (EMPAGLIFLOZIN)?

How it Works
Inhibits SGLT2 in renal proximal tubules — blocks glucose reabsorption causing glucosuria. Also reduces cardiac preload/afterload via osmotic diuresis and natriuresis.

Common Side Effects
Genital mycotic infections (thrush), UTIs, increased urination, DKA risk (rare), volume depletion, hypotension. Fournier’s gangrene (rare but serious).
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Hold during illness, fasting, and surgery (DKA risk even with normal glucose). Avoid if eGFR under 20. Genital hygiene essential. Euglycemic DKA can occur with normal blood sugar.
