What is Galvus Met 50/500mg (VILDAGLIPTIN)?
DPP-4 inhibitor for type 2 diabetes. Twice daily dosing. Widely used in Europe and Asia as monotherapy or combined with metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin.
How it Works
Inhibits DPP-4, preventing degradation of GLP-1 and GIP incretin hormones — increases insulin secretion and decreases glucagon in glucose-dependent manner. No hypoglycemia as monotherapy.

Common Side Effects
Nasopharyngitis, headache, dizziness, peripheral edema, liver enzyme elevation. Rare: pancreatitis, severe joint pain.
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Liver function monitoring required (quarterly for first year). Pancreatitis — discontinue if suspected. Avoid if eGFR under 50. Severe joint pain may be delayed onset class effect.
