What is Dronis 30mg (DROSPIRENONE / ETHINYLESTRADIOL)?
Combined oral contraceptive for pregnancy prevention. Also used for PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), acne (Yasmin/Yaz), and hirsutism due to drospirenone’s anti-androgenic properties.
How it Works
Drospirenone (progestogen with antimineralocorticoid and antiandrogenic properties) + ethinylestradiol (synthetic estrogen) — inhibits ovulation, thickens cervical mucus, thins endometrium.

Common Side Effects
Nausea, breast tenderness, headache, mood changes, breakthrough bleeding, decreased libido. Thromboembolism risk (higher than levonorgestrel-based pills).
Safety Warnings
⚠️ VTE risk higher than with older progestogen-based pills. Contraindicated in smokers over 35, VTE history, migraine with aura, uncontrolled hypertension, liver disease. Antimineralocorticoid effect — monitor potassium.
