Lincosamide antibiotic for anaerobic and gram-positive infections — skin/soft tissue, osteomyelitis, aspiration pneumonia, PID, dental infections, and MRSA skin infections.
How it Works
Binds 50S ribosomal subunit inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Excellent tissue penetration including bone and CNS. Active against anaerobes and gram-positive aerobes.

Common Side Effects
Diarrhea (common), C. difficile-associated colitis (serious risk), nausea, rash, metallic taste.
Safety Warnings
⚠️ C. difficile risk is significant — one of the antibiotics most associated with C. diff colitis. Stop immediately if severe diarrhea develops. Not for uncomplicated infections where narrower antibiotics suffice.
