What is Ciplar 40mg (PROPRANOLOL)?
Non-selective beta-blocker for hypertension, angina, cardiac arrhythmias, essential tremor, migraine prevention, thyrotoxicosis, anxiety (performance anxiety), and portal hypertension.
How it Works
Non-selective beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptor antagonist — reduces heart rate, contractility, and blood pressure. Beta-2 blockade addresses tremor and anxiety symptoms.

Common Side Effects
Fatigue, dizziness, bradycardia, cold extremities, sexual dysfunction, depression, bronchospasm (beta-2 — significant risk in asthma/COPD).
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Contraindicated in bronchospastic disease (asthma, COPD) — non-selective beta-2 blockade. Do NOT abruptly stop (rebound tachycardia, angina, MI risk). Masks hypoglycemia in diabetics.
