What is Bupiron Xl 300mg (BUPROPION)?
NDRI antidepressant for major depressive disorder, seasonal affective disorder, and smoking cessation (Zyban). Component of naltrexone/bupropion (Contrave) for weight loss.
How it Works
Inhibits norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake. Minimal serotonin effects explain fewer sexual side effects than SSRIs. Nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonism underlies smoking cessation effect.

Common Side Effects
Dry mouth, insomnia, headache, tremor, tachycardia, constipation, anxiety. Weight loss (not gain unlike most antidepressants). Lower sexual dysfunction than SSRIs.
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Seizure risk — dose-dependent (0.1% at standard doses). Contraindicated in seizure disorders, eating disorders (bulimia/anorexia), abrupt alcohol/benzodiazepine withdrawal. MAOIs contraindicated.
