What is Calaptin 120mg (VERAPAMIL)?
Calcium channel blocker (non-dihydropyridine) for hypertension, angina, supraventricular tachycardia, and rate control in atrial fibrillation.
How it Works
Blocks L-type calcium channels in cardiac and vascular smooth muscle → reduces heart rate, AV conduction, and myocardial contractility. More cardiac-selective than dihydropyridines.

Common Side Effects
Constipation (very common), bradycardia, dizziness, headache, peripheral edema, AV block.
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Avoid with beta-blockers (additive AV block/bradycardia risk). Contraindicated in WPW syndrome. Significant CYP3A4 drug interactions. Grapefruit juice increases plasma levels.
