Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) analog of the immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin. Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow. Produces anxiolytic effects via modulation of GABAergic and serotonergic systems without benzodiazepine receptor binding.
How Does Selank Work?
Selank increases GABA_A receptor sensitivity and modulates BDNF expression in hippocampal and cortical regions. Unlike benzodiazepines, does not produce tolerance, dependence, or respiratory depression at research doses. Also modulates T-cell immunity via tuftsin receptor binding.
